Weird Kitchen Furniture

Weird kitchen furniture and True Confessions
So what do think of my most recent kitchen addition?  You can never have enough seating, am I right?  What’s that?  Oh, the salon thing, well...
Isn't she a beauty?

This poor thing sat, unassembled, in the basement for about 7 months, until I finally decided that doing hair IN it would be better than making folks bend into the bathtub to rinse them.  :)  On Friday, I did a new friend’s hair for the first time, and so I made D haul this beast out of the dark.  I proceeded to put it together in the kitchen, where I would be using it, never guessing that we wouldn’t be able to get it back downstairs!  Very nice, yes?  I’m sure there’s an answer, but for now, it’s staying.  Mom needs a perm soon, anyway!
Back to Friday, though.  J came over and we proceeded to have lots of coffee, cookies and laughing while I colored/highlighted her hair.  Now, I thought I had made it pretty clear that there would be no payment (she’d already bought all of her chemicals, as she was strangely unwilling to use anything from the red family, which is what I always have on hand), but this lady doesn’t understand “empty-handed”.  Knowing me as she does, she brought a cute little gift bag with these goodies in it...
I think I actually clapped when I opened it...
That’s a PINK power screwdriver, with a bunch of bits and attachments, wall fasteners, mounting tape, and the funnest (yes, mom, funnest) little index/recipe cards ever.  Even funnier, although she didn’t know it, I already have the matching card box and cards, and use them to keep track of client information and formulations!
If I looked like that, I wouldn't feel bad about how the house looks, that's for sure!

Now it’s True Confessions time...
15 cents?
Not as exciting as those headlines, I’m afraid.  Here it is, though:  I don’t really do friends.  I'm not good at it.  Not that I haven’t always had people around me in one way or another, but REAL friends are hard to come by, and seem to be even harder to hold onto.  Mostly, I keep acquaintances on a superficial level because when we drift apart, there’s really nothing lost.  This blog was born from an urge to reach out and expand my circle, and maybe even meet some new people that I could enjoy spending time and energy with.  Maybe it will, and maybe it won’t, but I am profoundly grateful for the other new friend in my life, and not just because she brings me presents!  Even D has remarked that friendship looks good on me, and you know, he’s not the most observant guy ever...
A true friend is someone who thinks that you are a good egg even though he knows that you are slightly cracked.”  ~ Bernard Meltzer

Yes'm, old friends is always best, 'less you can catch a new one that's fit to make an old one out of.  ~ Sarah Orne Jewett

These are both toooo true!  Thank you, J, for fitting these criteria!
Now it seems to be bedtime - tomorrow IS Wonderful Wednesday, after all...
xoxo,
Tami

Happy thrifting on Wonderful Wednesday tomorrow! I'm totally with you on the "friend" front.
